On June 8-9 2017 Ufa Eye Research Institute holds the VIII International Conference on Ophthalmology “East-West”. Every year the conference gathers more and more guests from Europe, Asia, and USA.

Every year large delegations of ophthalmologists from the leading specialized research institutes come to participate in the conference: the Interbranch Scientific and Technical Complex "Eye Microsurgery" named after. Acad. S.N. Fedorov (Moscow) and its branches (St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Kaluga), Eye Research Institute (Moscow), Moscow Research Institute of Eye Diseases n.a. H. Helmholtz. Leading specialists, chief physicians of ophthalmological clinics, heads of the departments of eye diseases from various regions of Russia are expected, from Moscow and St. Petersburg to Vladivostok.

Representative delegations of West and East countries are expected. Near abroad will be represented by the guests from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine.
The conference will be held at the Bashkir State Opera House. In total, the conference program will present more than 100 reports, the best of which will be awarded diplomas.

Along with the sessions devoted to topical issues of ophthalmology, a video session will be held where interesting clinical cases from the practice of ophthalmic surgeons of Russia, near and far abroad will be presented.
An integral part of the conference is "live surgery" – direct broadcasts of surgeries from operating units of Ufa Eye Research Institute in the performance of leading Russian and Ufa surgeons.

For the first time the section of young scientists "Modern Ophthalmology: Basic and Applied Aspects" will be organized, during which young specialists will present and discuss the results of their experimental and clinical studies.
Organization of online broadcasting of the conference together with the electronic information edition "Russian ophthalmology online" will allow everyone remote participation in the Conference .

Annually in the framework of the conference scientific and practical journal "Point of view. East-West" is published.

Traditionally, the conference will provide sharing experiences, getting acquainted with modern methods of treatment of eye diseases, including scientific research results of Ufa Eye Research Institute, as well as medical equipment, scientific literature presented at the extensive exhibition.
The rich scientific program, the impressive entry list of Russian and international participants, an interesting cultural program will help to gain new knowledge, to master advanced technologies in ophthalmology and will certainly leave unforgettable impression on the guests of Ufa.
The conference is held according to the plan of the Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Bashkortostan.
